Mauiponies

This is not your usual "touristy" horse or pony-riding experience, but SO much more. If you want your kiddos (and/or yourself!) to have a relaxed experience riding horses while learning to brush and care for them, then this is the place you want to go.

I was impressed with the independence our girls (ages 4 and 7) achieved during their lesson. Melissa applies a strict, straight-forward, yet hands-off teaching method so kids really learn to problem solve and figure out how to RIDE! My better-half and I felt our girls were very safe the entire time, and we were so impressed with Melissa and how wonderful she was with our girls. Melissa's students are mostly the local kids in the area-- some of the older middle-school/high-school aged kids were present helping out, and helped guide our little ones.

Melissa is also all about animal rescue; at the time we went (late-Dec 2022) she was hosting several horses and ponies, a goat, cows, a recently rescued calf down for cuddles, and your greeting committee: a kitty "Mouse" and loving doggie "Nugget." All animals seemed very well cared for, and Melissa knew all of their personalities to a tee. Truly a paradise for those who love both animals and tropical laid-back climate. Our girls had a blast and are still talking about the animals they met, as if they are besties with them.

Maui Ponies in located in Up-Country Maui. For non-locals who don't know yet, this means it's up the mountain at a higher altitude where the view is phenomenal and the roads are less travelled upon (by tourists), about 1.5 hrs from Kanapali/Napili or Wailea depending on weather, and traffic on 30 or 31... and maybe 37 if you get stuck behind a slow local farmers' haul-- but WORTH IT! There are a bunch of other fantastic places to go for meals or adorableness in the area like the Kula Bistro (for meals) or the Surfing Goat Dairy (for adorableness or a goat-cheesy delicious appetizer)!

We will definitely go back for more fun at Maui Ponies next time we visit the island!

Amazing experience, such magical slice of heaven in upcountry. Our 4 and 7 year old girls were treated as cow girls, and loved every second. We drove from Napili and would go every day if we cod have. Best part of our trip. Girls still talk about Dodger and Jimmy every day. Will be back!

Took our 4yo toddler to ride a pony with Melissa. It was a bit of a drive to get here from where we were staying in kanapali, but completely worth it. She was very engaging and patient with my toddler and answered the endless stream of questions my little one kept coming up with. The horses seemed well cared for and we even saw a week old baby pony. Would definitely recommend!

Wow, what a great experience! We took our kids 6 and 9 to Mauiponies and they had a wonderful time. My daughter asked if we can visit again. Melissa was absolutely wonderful with the kids, so genuine, kind, and patient. I felt so safe as she stayed with and guided the kids the entire time. If you're looking for something different for your little ones to do in Maui I highly recommend Mauiponies.

We had an amazing experience at Maui ponies. We came to Maui for a vacation and we looked very where for a place for our toddler to ride a pony and found this place and had a wonderful time. The horses were beautiful and friendly and the staff was amazing! Can't recommend enough if you have young kids!

Such an awesome place for little kids. We came here to celebrate my son's 5th birthday! Everyone was so friendly and hands on. I would recommend this place and come back here. We all got a chance to ride. Melissa was very responsive and accommodating.

FANTASTIC! We came from LA with our 2yr old. Ever since pumpkin patch this fall, she is obsessed with ponies/horses but no place allows 2yr old to ride in Maui. I am extremely thankful I found this place. The owner is absolutely lovely and treated my 2yr daughter so well. We went back again during our stay in Maui bc our daughter had the best time there than any other place. Thank you for creating beautiful memory for our family.

LOVELOVELOVE Mauiponies and their amazing staff!!!! We hired them a few times for birthday parties and they were such a hit the first time, we kept getting them for every birthday party! The ponies are so friendly and calm! All ages are able to ride- one year old till about middle school! They will accommodate whatever age group! They have the best staff- so friendly, great communication, great prices, accommodating- just AMAZING!!!! They work on building a lifetime friendship!!! It was such an awesome experience for my children! They can't wait to go back again... got a chance to brush, care for & ride these amazing horses & ponies!!

During our vacation in Maui, we took our 2 little ones (3 &5) to ride a pony and a horse for up to an hour. Both had rode ponies at fairs ( in a small circle for 5 minutes) and at a Birthday party each for 15 minutes. But this was all horseriding for 45 minutes to an hour. They had so much fun and asked to go back again and we did. Both long horse riding time gave them confident and appreciation of horses that both now wants regular horse riding lessons. Melissa, the owner gives horse riding lessons and you can tell she is very knowledgeable and knows what she is doing. Her students were learning, riding with confidence, and having a good time doing it. ( We were there as she was teaching a small group). If we lived in Maui we were defintely go to her, she was very accommodating with our schedule and her price for horse riding lesson is very reasonable. She also provide service for birthday parties . Highly recommended!
